They say blood is thicker than water, however jam is infinitely more viscous than both and makes a much more palatable filling between two slices of sponge.

Right now, my least favourite movie is The Amazing Spiderman 2. Such a disappointment.

One lie, one truth about myself

I once saved Tokyo from both Mothra & Godzilla. I also crowd surfed for the first time when I was 16, it was weird.

A bit about me and my work

I enjoy reading up on Science, even if I don’t fully grasp it, it’s one of my favourite subjects out there. I watch anime both for fun and analytical purposes, my number one series being Cowboy Bebop & my top anime film is Princess Mononoke. Practical/non-digital artwork and cartoon sketching is my forte, however that will most likely change over time for the sake of this blog, my main gig will be strange artwork more so than written articles/reviews. The best video game ever made, to me, is Chrono Trigger. Sonic 3 & Knuckles being a close contender, but Chrono has more going for it purely because one is an RPG while the other is traditional 2D platforming. The best film ever is Back to the Future because of the genius character of Doc Brown, nothing else needs to said about that.

I like to read as much as possible, I’m not fussy as to what category of book that might be – I’m open to all. Although if I had to pick, my personal choice over anything would be Clive Barker’s ‘Weaveworld’. I socialise whenever possible just like anyone else when I get the time/opportunity. I’ve also come to realise that my preferred alcoholic drink is Jack Daniels, from the bottle, not in a shot glass is how I truly enjoy it the best. Otherwise I’m not a heavy drinker.

For music – the best albums out there are either The Cure’s ‘Disintegration’ or Redman’s first outing ‘Whut Thee Album’. Failing that, then it’s easily ‘2 B A Master’ the 4kids production album of Pokemon songs from back in 1999. Classic stuff.

A bit about me and my work

Hello internet people, Anya here. I am currently studying for a BA in Creative Writing at the University of Bedfordshire. I mainly write innovative poetry but sometimes I get greedy and dabble in fiction too. I am a darts player, a vampire slayer, a beginner crocheter. A shot drinker, a fearful winker and a filthy thinker.

I have played rugby at a semi-professional level. I have participated in rap battles and recorded a rap song which is on Soundcloud.

A bit about me and my work

I am a film obsessive and a total nerd, my time is spent watching movies, playing videogames and reading comics, interspersed with drinking copious amounts of whiskey. Oh and occasionally trying to actually make films and stuff. I’ve been recording podcasts since 2009 mostly talking about pop-culture nonsense, but also some very serious podcasts about serious issues that were totally serious. On the blog I’m going to be exploring the idea that I find it very hard not find at least one thing to like about almost every movie I’ve ever seen, and searching for a film that I truly hate. I’ll also be doing some video stuff and helping anyone who wants a hand with podcasts.

I find it almost impossible to lie, so I can’t think of one.

Haha! That can be my truth, ermm… Lie.. Err.. Help?

A bit about me and my work

Imagine the wilds of the North (a town in Yorkshire) in the early 90’s, the potato aka Beth, emerged from the womb.  She set sail on an adventure of learning Maths and Science whilst dabbling in the arts; dark of course, as she only works in black and very dark grey.

Now she spends all of her time locked in the lab studying electronics, attempting to set of on a magical escapade into the world of colour! Interested in pretty much everything, except sport because it’s a lie. Beth will delve into the universe of the weird and wonderful; when possible.

In my blog I’ll be trying out food hacks and recipes that you wouldn’t normally think of. I often see food hacks around the web and find myself thinking, would that work? Is that the best way to do that? That’s what I aim to find out.

Emily is a graphic designer from Manchester, currently studying at the University of Leeds. She appreciates complimentary colour schemes, layouts and typography. She dislikes comic sans.

As well as design Emily also enjoys singing. She has sung at the BBC Proms multiple times and performed in operas with LUU OperaSoc. She knows by heart all the words to the songs from Frozen, and has a not so secret dream to work at Walt Disney World.

Emily only started reading graphic novels in 2014, however loved her introduction via Saga, Morning Glories, Y: The Last Man and Fables. She is a big Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones fan, frequently plays World of Warcraft, loves cats and one day wants to have a pet tortoise.

A bit about me and my work

Currently and throughout my life I have been interested in comic books, classic science fiction, films and the collecting of memorabilia pertaining to those interests. Recently I have developed a passion for costume building and have several projects that I am planning on completing.

A bit about me and my work

Lately I have let the pen fall, allowed dust to settle on paper, and watched ink bowl after ink bowl solidify in the late summer sun.  I hope to breathe new life into my practice, and return once again to the pursuit of rich scenes, weighty beauty, and pulsating life forms in my image-making.  To return with discipline to my twin loves, illustration and animation, is my goal for the coming months – I am humbled to be a part of this group.

British illustrator Jade (McFarland) Diamond (b. 1992) graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth in 2014 and now lives in London. Influenced by the scary things that lie under children’s beds, Jade’s work is a fusion of the imagined and the observed. Her playful working method of re-assembling her own drawings digitally and by hand is used to create images that tell a story, compliment a specific text or answer a brief. Jade’s work has appeared across a wide variety of areas from advertising campaigns to storybooks to gallery exhibitions, but she’s always up for a new challenge.

James prefers the Star Wars prequels to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. He is ashamed of this.

A bit about me and my work

After graduating from university and principally learning that the media industry is just as crooked and insecure as working in the stock market, James decided to get a job in marketing so that he could finance quiet nights in watching films, writing stories and general day dreaming.

He likes to think that no matter what the level of success he reaches, he’ll be happy so long as he one day meets someone who read some of his work and thought it changed their life. Then again, if during that course he became rich, that wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize.

One lie, one truth about myself

Would like a cat but due to allergies has settled on a pet brick. Still hopes that his Bill and Ted / Wayne’s World crossover fan fiction will one day be made into a movie (preferably by Martin Scorsese).

A bit about me and my work

After a terrible childhood accident left him infected with dangerous levels of whimsy Jamie turned to comics as an outlet. His first attempt featured a crime fighting badger with a baseball bat. He followed that with a story about a depressed lightbulb and his cardboard cut-out psychiatrist. Other stories involving jazz crows, aristocratic crustaceans and spacefaring rabbits soon followed. Most recently he has contributed stories to several anthologies, begun work on a webcomic about himself and his ghostly foetal twin and had his first solo comic ‘The Seth and Ghost Super Reality Adventure and Activity Book’ published (on real paper, by actual humans). He still finds it hard to believe that all of this is not just a fevered dream produced by a serious head wound.

Kick-Ass 2

One lie, one truth about myself

I like to cause mayhem in libraries by stamping dates so far into the future on the return by form in the front of the books, to confuse readers and librarians. Every night I check the back of the wardrobe to make sure it’s not Narnia.

A bit about me and my work

I’m a busy student who balances study with working on a whole range of interests such as writing, blogging, filmmaking and collection of commitments to various creators, publications and film festivals.

When I’m not watching Scott Pilgrim Vs the World on repeat (not my proudest moment) you can find me sitting in a cinema or joyfully blogging away in the corner of a coffee shop. When it comes to hobbies I can never stick to one, in the past I have been involved in two successful group World Records, unicycled for about 5 seconds (before breaking my leg) and jumped out of a plane (with a parachute) and didn’t break anything! My other hobbies include the not so dangerous task of letter writing, reading and experimental writing (all come with paper cut warnings).

My artist practice explores the themes of language and text; through observations of social interactions within society. By using audio and print I questions the differences and relationships between what is considered as art over literature, taking into account the key ideas of ownership, collection and interaction of the work.

A lot of my writing ponders on the world through my passion for film. I have an interest in short films and how many outside of the film industry do not watch these. I see them as valued works over a lot of the mainstream blockbusters and I would like to share this with our readers through curating short film collections on the site.

A bit about me and my work

Sarcastic and bitter, and deeply saddened I’ve thus far not managed to turn those skills into my life’s work. My aim in this blog is to change that, by saying horrible things horribly about subjects and people who probably don’t deserve it. My interests include maintaining my addiction to television and various teas, as well as building up my collection of awful ‘literature’ from the free section of the Kindle store.
